At first I was very skeptical of where Starbucks was going with such a large marketing push of their re-mastered instant coffee. When the original press releases came out there was quite some hype, so much I really didn’t think they could live up to it. Then yesterday, March 2nd, every CTA bus was decked out with Starbucks VIA advertisements all over it. At that point I knew that Starbucks must have really had something going for them.

This morning I walked directly to Starbucks to pick up my first three-pack of VIA. I was very impressed with design of the packaging, small but very informative of just what Starbucks was trying to do. “Never be without great coffee” a very bold statement for a product with such a terrible stigma. Now it was time to make the first cup.
Making it was truly as easy as instant. Just add water and stir. I chose the Italian Roast because I am a bold coffee drinker. As nervous as one can be when taking the first sip, I was pleasantly surprised. The coffee had absolutely no watered down taste, it was not in the slightest bit overly bitter, and it was just as smooth and fresh as a recently brewed pot of coffee.

I can honestly say that I am a huge fan of Starbucks VIA. For both convenience and taste VIA is the right product. For the first two years in my professional life I have waited till I arrived to work to go buy a cup but today I found my way to make a cup of coffee for the commute. Thank you Starbucks, you have made me a happy coffee drinker again.
